Librarian by Day

Erin and I announced Looks Like Library Science open for submission a little over a year ago on February 13th.

This project has been so much fun! Thank you to everyone who submitted a photo!

If you haven’t submitted a photo – you still can – see instructions at the end.

I’ve learned that Tumblr is great for allowing others to submit photos to your site, but also that Tumblr is truly horrid for recovering any type of useful data. I kept a separate list of the countries of submissions and I’m not 100% sure I got them. But here are some numbers!

As of now, there are 704 photos (some contain more than one library staff member).

There are submissions from 29 countries!

I’ve learned that librarians are drummers, pirates, swimmers, fire dancers, fire breathers, bicyclists, zombies, scuba divers, runners, roller derbyists (?s), dancers, football players, guitarist, skiers, beer lovers, whiskey drinkers, fashionistas, and foodies!

Seriously! This project is awesome!

What: a fun site to to collection photos of real librarians in their real lives doing real stuff 

Who: YOU! The site is up and running and ready for submissions. So find a picture that you think best represents you to the world and submit it! Please don’t submit photos of others and be tasteful! This is a fun, light-hearted project, please approach it in that spirit!
