I am excited to share that the book Fostering Wellness in the Workplace: A Guide for Libraries is finally out. It seems far longer than two and half years since we signed the contract the beginning of March 2020. The vision for what the book would be was changed greatly by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, political unrest and changes in the U.S. and world, and changes in personal lives. I was not able to read the final copy of the book before it was published due to on-going brain fog from long COVID. I have some very bittersweet feelings about the book being out. I hope you will pick up a copy and that you find it useful.
I want to thank Twanna Hodge for contributing a chapter and her patience and perseverance with this project. Her contributions are invaluable. She has recently begun a Ph.D. program and I’m excited to follow her journey.
Working with the ALA team was a wonderful experience. I am particularly grateful that they helped us provide complementary copies of the book to the librarians who we cited. There are so many people doing amazing work around the health and wellness of library staff. I’m grateful for their time, expertise, and generosity.
