The impostor syndrome, sometimes called impostor phenomenon or fraud syndrome, is a psychological phenomenon in which people are unable to internalize their accomplishments.

3. HarperCollins Executive Calls Circulation Cap a “Work in Progress” via @LibraryRenewal

HarperCollins knew that its decision to cap ebook circulations at 26 would generate some heat, but the intensity, nonetheless, surprised the company.

“We certainly expected a variety of responses, and we knew that there would be a lot of people that had issues,” Josh Marwell, president of sales, told LJ after speaking to some 150 librarians gathered Tuesday at the Darien Library, CT, as part of “eBooks: Collections at the Crossroads,” a symposium organized by the Connecticut Library Consortium (#clctrendspotting, #clcebooks). “I think what was surprising was the intensity and how widespread it was. There were a lot of people who are not carrying ebooks now who entered into the fray,” he said.

1. You have to play to know the rules
2. People succeed best when their unique talents are recognized “and utilized” cuz too often, they aren’t
3. You can’t recover from a really bad start so cut your losses, restart & try again
4. Different problems require different specialists; seems obvious, but it’s not often the case
5. Blowing something up isn’t necessarily felt everywhere; “You can’t just fiddle with a solution in the corner and hope that it will disburse throughout the organization. It takes a clear understanding of organizational physics to make change stick.”
6. Most improvements are incremental; isn’t that the truth? “If you want a high score you have to be patient and accept incremental improvement by applying lessons learned from past attempts. Every once in a while, you change a strategy or accidentally discover a new tactic that results in an exponential improvement in the score, but that is very rare.”
7. Just because you’ve mastered one task doesn’t make you master of all……sigh……true, true….

5. Now you can Shop, Download & Listen to audiobooks right on your Kindle via @rashford The Kindle, not just or ebooks anymore? (or Mine Sweeper). The Kindle has always played audio files and you could load Audible books to the Kindle before this, but now you can download directly to the device over wifi.

10. Why Users Are More Engaged With Social Media on Fridays

The reason is fairly obvious, says Jeremiah Owyang, a partner at the Altimeter Group: “People are heading into the weekend so they’re thinking about things besides work. They’re mentally checking out and transitioning to the weekend.”

Rick Liebling, director of digital strategy at Coyne PR, concurs: “It’s a matter of people finally pushing past the work week and coasting toward the weekend, picking their head up a bit to see what’s going on and what their friends are up to.”

However, Liebling adds that there might be another factor at work: There may be fewer posts overall on Fridays, which means a greater number of average click-throughs.
