Ned - I think my friend thought I'd be good at it because she considered me bookish and she thought being a librarian means what most of the public thinks that you get to work with books. What's interesting is at this point in my career I have very little contact with books, of any format, at work. Maybe I just got lucky ;-)

Bobbi this is fantastic, thank you! There's no time limit so no need to apologise at all (in fact, one part of the Library Day in a Life methodology we so far *haven't* been able to steal from you is the annual element; we're working on it...).

I'm really interested in the way library jobs change by the time people end up actually doing them. Your friend said you'd be good at it, and it turns out she was right - but really can she have had much idea of the kind of things you actually do in your job in 2009..? It is, as you say, funny how things work out.

If 4 fulltime/6 part time is tiny what are we? With one full time and 3 part time we must be less than tiny. And there are two libraries nearby who have one part time employee.

Great story, Bobbi!

I always find it fascinating how people got to where they are now. The culmination of events, the right people at the right time, and lucky accidents make for wonderful tales.
